On November 4, 2005, NAPRHSW celebrated our 23rd Annual Award Dinner. The event was characterized as a festive appreciation for the honorees. The night was interspersed with dancing, eating, and networking. An air of anticipation permeated the ballroom as each honoree addressed the gathering.

The Hon. Rick Montano received the President’s Award for his outstanding work in moving Suffolk County in a progressive direction. Social Worker Milagros Dueno was given the Social Worker of the Year Award for her tireless dedication in serving people in need. Gladys Ramirez, Director for Latino Programming at TeleCare, received the Humanitarian Award for all of her education/informative programs.

The Long Island Fund for Women & Girls received the Agency of the year Award for assistance they provide to various community organizations that enhance the lives of women and girls. Gaspar Santiago received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the disenfranchised.

Deborah Valenzuela, Award Dinner Committee Chair, and Pauline Velazquez, Scholarship Committee Chair, awarded scholarships to Jessica Guzman & Evelyn Ortiz. These students not only expressed their gratitude but more importantly spoke about their goals and aspirations as future social workers.

The money made on the raffles ensures that we can assist other social work students with their education. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event such a success!
